2026 Program Offerings

Invented in the mid-19th century by Adolphe Sax, the saxophone occupies a unique place in classical music as both a modern innovation and a bridge between traditions. Synchrony Quartet embraces this dual identity by pairing newly created arrangements with works written for saxophone by composers past and present, showcasing the instrument’s remarkable versatility. This program invites audiences to hear the past as a catalyst for the future, where familiar voices resonate in new ways, and evolving sounds emerge from enduring musical ideas.

Folk music is traditionally passed down orally through generations and resonates as a voice for the ‘common people’. Folk music tells us how we live, communicate, and connect with one other. Through the medium of the saxophone, we hope to broaden the definition of folk, spanning from Argentinian Tango, American Bluegrass, Black Spiritual Folksongs, and everything in between. Like people, all of these musics are deeply rooted in cultural traditions, whether contemporary or well-worn.
